Have you previously studied at a university or other institution? Whether you completed your studies or not, at Alma Mater Europaea University, Vienna Location, we recognize your prior learning and offer you the opportunity to complete your bachelor or masters degree in a shorter time.
1. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Alma Mater applies a formal Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) policy to acknowledge your previously obtained ECTS, completed coursework, training, and professional experience.
We welcome applications:
- who graduated at another university or Fachochschule or another instutution
- Students who began but did not complete a degree at another institution
- Certified Heilmasseurs and Medical Masseurs
- Former physiotherapy or health sciences students
- Graduates of vocational healthcare programs
2. What Can Be Recognized?
Depending on your past qualifications and experience, you may be awarded ECTS credits.
Example:
- A Heilmasseur with 2,490 contact hours of training (per Austrian law) will typically be granted 60–90 ECTS.
- A former physiotherapy student who passed some university courses in Germany may receive credit for those specific subjects
- A graduate with a Bachelor degree in Biology gets ECTS recognized in Alma Mater Pflege study program.
3. Shortened Study Duration
Students admitted via transfer or RPL typically complete their Alma Mater degree shorter. Up to 90 or 120 ECTS may be recognized.
4. Admission Requirements
To apply for our Bachelor degree, all students—regardless of prior training—must:
- Have completed high school
- Hold the Matura (or an equivalent secondary school-leaving certificate)
This includes those with vocational qualifications such as Heilmasseur or Medizinischer Masseur.
5. Application Process & Deadlines
If you would like your prior education recognized, follow these steps:
- Submit your application.
- Upload all relevant documents, including:
- Matura certificate
- Diplomas and transcripts from previous education
- Certificates from massage or healthcare training
- Proof of internships, work experience, and continuing education
- Pay the RPL Committee Procedure Fee (€300)
- This fee is deducted from your tuition if you enroll (the process is free).
- If you do not enroll, the fee is non-refundable.
- Wait for the Committee Review. Within 30 days, our Recognition Committee will:
- Review your prior learning and experience
- Confirm which AMEU courses will be recognized
- Issue a personalized study plan showing what remains to complete your degree
