Alma Mater Europaea University is an accredited university with 2,500 students from 30+ countries and 25 doctoral, Master’s, and Bachelor’s degree programs. Alma Mater Europaea University was initiated by the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, based in Salzburg, which brings together over 2,000 scientists and artists as well as 38 Nobel laureates.
The Alma Mater Research Center is the university’s research branch. It conducts cutting-edge research and connects the university with the global research community. It organizes scientific events, facilitates the exchange of students and faculty, and coordinates publications in the fields of health, physiotherapy, law, political science, social sciences, humanities, artificial intelligence, gerontology, project management, nursing, media studies, computer science, and other areas.
Alma Mater Europaea, Campus Vienna, is the university’s accredited location (SQAA) and campus in Austria. Students have the opportunity to study in Vienna, Klagenfurt or Salzburg. Lectures are held in Vienna, and practical sessions will take place – pending additional location accreditation – in physio labs in Vienna, Salzburg and Celovec (Klagenfurt). See our locations.
In the 2024/25 academic year, Alma Mater Europaea University, Location Vienna, launched a six-semester Bachelor’s degree program in Physiotherapy. The program can be completed part-time, and the language of instruction is German or English. The program, worth 180 ECTS credits, leads to an international ‘Bachelor of Physiotherapy,’ with the final examination in German being held in Ljubljana. Clinical training and practice take place at more than 30 affiliated institutions in Austria and around 200 abroad.
In late 2025/26, we plan to start additional study programs: Doctor of Science (PhD) in Applied AI, Doctor of Science (PhD) in Strategic Communication Management, Doctor of Science (PhD) in Project Management and Leadership & Innovation, Masters (M.Sc.) in Health Sciences (Physical Therapy, Nursing, Public Health, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Integrative Health Sciences), Bachelor and Masters in Nursing, Bachelor, Masters and Doctorate programs in Social Gerontology, Humanities, Computer Science, and more. These programs are pending approval and accreditation by SQAA (Nakvis) and AQ Austria.
The Vienna site director and dean of the Department of Physiotherapy is Dr. Maximilian-Niklas Bonk. The renowned scientist and specialist in neurosurgery currently heads the Robotics and Intraoperative Imaging research group as a senior physician at Kulmbach Hospital and works on AI in neurosurgery. Alma Mater Vienna is a Vienna-based research institute with a strong international team of researchers in Social Studies, Law, Humanities, Health Sciences, Physiotherapy, Artificial Intelligence, Communication Sciences, and more. It has partnered in EU Horizon and Interreg projects. Its projects and activities include Alma Mater AI Center, IFG.at and TheConf.org.
